Frequently Asked Questions
Based on an annual utilization analysis, premiums may remain the same, increase or even decrease year-over-year. After the most recent analysis was completed with our providers, premiums will need to increase for 2025 due to higher utilization. While ROCKWOOL is absorbing most of this cost, some plans are impacted more than others.
To understand how this works, see the How are Premiums Determined? section.
Each year, insurance utilization is evaluated using key metrics such as multi-year historical claims. A thorough, predictive analysis is formulated using market data and ROCKWOOL’s utilization data to determine the total amount needed to fund the plan for the following year.
That amount is then taken and divided among current and future participants in the plan based on coverage level to determine the premium. Finally, the cost share is calculated where ROCKWOOL picks up most of the cost, where we exceed market average. The remaining amount is what’s deducted from your paycheck.
Going nicotine- and tobacco-free is one of the most important steps you can take to maintain good health. If you enroll in our medical plan and you use tobacco/nicotine or have used tobacco products during the last six months, you will be required to pay a tobacco surcharge of $20 per month in addition to your regular medical premiums. If you complete the tobacco cessation program through Well on Target sponsored by BCBS, you can receive a refund of the surcharge.
A spousal surcharge is intended to encourage working spouses to review all medical plan options available to them and to keep our costs reasonable for everyone. If your spouse or domestic partner is eligible for medical coverage through their own employer and you cover them on our medical plan, you will be required to pay a surcharge of $100 per month in addition to your regular medical premiums.
To qualify for the HSA Booster, you will need to complete a Health Questionnaire on BlueCross BlueShield’s portal—BlueAccess for Members (BAM) by December 31, 2023.
- Go to BlueCross BlueShields Portal: www.bcbsil.com
- If you haven’t already registered, click Register Here.
- If you forgot your Username/Password, click the respective Forgot links to recover.
- Once signed in, click on Well onTarget on the lefthand menu.
- You will be prompted to begin your Health Assessment.
- If you aren’t, you will have a tile available on the home page.
- Once you’ve completed your assessment, your booster will begin within 30 days on regular payroll.
- Please note that ROCKWOOL’s contributions are not excluded from the annual contribution maximum. Therefore, your annual contribution would prohibit you receiving the full booster, it will be reduced to support the booster contribution.
Yes! Company contributions to your HSA from ROCKWOOL will be deposited per paycheck regardless if you contribute to your HSA. This means you can receive up to $750 (Individual) or $1,500 (Family) per year even if you don’t contribute anything.
Yes! Both the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with the HSA and the PPO plan offer access to the same network of facilities through BlueCross BlueShield.
Keep in mind despite the naming of the plan, both offer a “PPO” level of coverage, which means that you can go to any doctor/specialist without needing a referral. This gives you the flexibility to receive the coverage you need from the facility you want.
